Pimp My Ride

Pimp My Ride was originally released late last year on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. Mixing a lousy driving game with completely pointless minigames that barely tied everything together into something that vaguely resembled the concept of the show, it was a poor piece of work. Now the game has come to the PSP, and it is with no amount of exaggeration that we state that Pimp My Ride is, hands down, the worst console-to-PSP port to date. Think of every single issue that’s ever plagued a console game translated to the PSP, combine them all with a game that was already no fun to begin with, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of where this game stands. Toss in the fact that Activision is charging $40 for this busted piece of junk, and Pimp My Ride goes from merely awful to outrageously abysmal in a split second.

The Sims 2: Bon Voyage

Bon Voyage will introduce three “neighborhoods” that are themed for
all sorts of adventure. There’s a mountain/wooded area that’s perfect
for camping trips. Then there’s an island neighborhood for those
sun-drenched vacations. Finally, if you have a desire for the exotic, a
Far East neighborhood will introduce elements of Chinese and Japanese
culture.

Unreal Tournament


There isn’t some clear-cut formula for making a great game, but Epic
hasn’t ignored bullet-point features in expanding the Unreal Tournament
series, which is now in its third installment. The multiplayer-focused
first-person shooter series started off in 1999 with great graphics,
crisp control, solid networking (which led to smooth online gameplay),
and hectic action.

These basics haven’t been neglected, even as expectations have
changed–and have significantly increased–over the last five years.
However, UT has never been just about settling for the basics, and to
this end, the new Unreal Tournament 2004 has a tremendous variety of
maps and modes of play. In the same package, you’ll find cutthroat
deathmatching as good as it’s ever been, plus large team-based modes in
the style that’s become so popular lately. Simply put, this is the
multiplayer action game that offers something for everyone–even those
who prefer playing offline, since the UT bots are better than ever and
are still the best in the business.

Fable: The Lost Chapters


Some heroes are made when they rise to the occasion. Others build
their reputations over time. This latter case is the subject of Fable:
The Lost Chapters, a game in which you get to vicariously experience
the life of an archetypal fantasy hero, and, in some respects, decide
what eventually becomes of him.

Originally released for the Xbox last year, Fable was one of the most highly anticipated games since the Xbox’s debut, and the latest
title overseen by visionary game designer Peter Molyneux since 2001’s
innovative Black & White. Like that game, Fable invites you to
solve problems either by being good or by being evil, and to watch as
the effects of your decisions gradually take a noticeable toll on your
persona. Fable also features a number of novel elements, such as how
your hero’s appearance gradually changes with age, and how villagers
respond differently to him depending on his reputation, looks, and
other factors. These elements serve to significantly differentiate a
game that’s actually pretty straightforward in terms of how it plays.
Beneath the surface, Fable is a well-put-together but standard action
adventure, primarily consisting of lots of basic combat and running
from point to point. Mind you, this is a decidedly great game, all in
all. Its most interesting, riskiest features may lie at the fringes
rather than at the core–but they’re there.
